My Philosophy of Education
Before becoming a NY City Teacher, I worked in Information Technology. I started in technical recruiting, but moved into software training, project management and eventually became a CTO. I spent a majority of my experience working with banks, law firms, and media companies. As a teacher, I feel my most important job is to keep students engaged and interested in the classroom. To accomplish this, I rely on practical issues, technology, sense-of-humor and real life knowledge. Making the classroom a place where students connect to the real world and global community is vital to their educational enrichment. I became a teacher to give students the confidence and knowledge they need to achieve success in their personal, educational and professional journeys.
I Grew Up - I was born and raised in the Stapleton area of Staten Island.
My Hobbies
Sports, Reading, "catching a good flick", sitting on the beach, eating and exercising.I am a dedicated runner and new triathlete - look at some results here
Favorite Books
Catcher in the Rye, Raisin in the Sun, Langston Hughes Poems, Lord of the Flies, About the Author, Red Badge of Courage, and King Lear
Why I Do What I Do
Experiences make you realize that life is short. We should all want to make a difference, in ours and others' lives. Nothing is more rewarding to me then opening doors for students to all of life's challenges and possibilities. "Be the change you want to see in the world" - Ghandi
My Family - I come from a close-knit, Italian family who values culture, citizenship and relying on each other.
Additional Information
I have coached Baseball, Wrestling & Tennis at Lafayette High School in Brooklyn, JV football at Susan Wagner HS and am currently the head coach for the CSI HS Wrestling & Softball teams.
